Not too bad, eh? Reconnect the Apple TV to your TV, and the first time it starts back up you'll see a red fireCore icon in the bottom right of the home screen letting you know the jailbreak was successful! Once that is done, you've now got a jailbroken Apple TV. Do not press anything while this happens. You'll see iTunes come to the front of the screen (full screen if you're in Lion), and it will automatically set up the Apple TV to restore. Seas0nPass will now handle the iTunes restore process on it's own. This enters your Apple TV into DFU mode.Īssuming you've done this correctly (I had to use a separate Micro-USB cable as my first was cheap and didn't work), Seas0nPass will say it has Found device in DFU mode and run through a couple quick uploads to your device, then launch the iTunes restore script. Once it is blinking rapidly you should point the silver included Apple TV remote at the Apple TV and hold PLAY/PAUSE and MENU at the same time for 7 seconds. The Apple TV light should blink a couple times, then begin blinking rapidly. NOTE: Depending on your internet connection speed, this could take upwards of 20 minutes as it downloads the firmware.Īt this point, you'll be asked to connect the Apple TV to the computer using the Micro-USB cable. The final step it will show is Creating IPSW. Seas0nPass will now download the current Apple TV firmware file, and go through various steps on it's own to create a jailbroken firmware image. You will see the Seas0nPass home screen - press the Create IPSW button.
Making sure your device is NOT yet connected, double-click Seas0nPass to launch it. It's a good idea to move it to your Applications folder, but not necessary. Seas0nPass for Windows is also being finalized with the untether and will be available soon. All credit for the untethered jailbreak process goes to the Chronic Dev Team.
#SEAS0NPASS NOT OPENING ZIP FILE#
Double-click the zip file to unzip it, and open the Seas0nPass folder to see the Seas0nPass icon. Today we’re happy to release an updated version of Seas0nPass (for Mac) that includes an untethered jailbreak for the AppleTV 4.1.1 (iOS 4.2.1) software.
This guide should be used with the Apple TV running firmware version 4.4.4 (iOS 5.0.1). Seas0nPass supports a tethered jailbreak for iOS 4.4.2, meaning that you will have to re-jailbreak every time your Apple TV reboots. Apple pushed out the minor 4.2.2 update for the Apple TV 2G a few days ago. Note this is an UNTETHERED JAILBREAK, meaning you can reboot your Apple TV just like you normally would. The Seas0nPass jailbreak tool has been updated with support for the Apple TV on iOS 4.4.2. The current version of Seas0nPass 0.8 is Seas0nPass 0.8.1.
